Where You'll Stay in Nicaragua
Settle in at Still Salty Escape, an oceanfront retreat home in Northern Nicaragua
Your home for the week is Still Salty Escape, a surf and yoga retreat venue in Nicaragua, an oceanfront property on the quiet northern Pacific coast. Two acres of gardens, thatched cabañas, and open sky, with the surf a few steps from your door and the sun setting straight into the water each evening.
An oceanfront home, far from the crowds
The property sits right on the sand on Nicaragua's northern Pacific coast, away from the busier southern surf towns. It is a small, community-style oceanfront retreat property in Nicaragua rather than a big resort, which is exactly what makes a retreat here feel personal.
You wake to the ocean, practice with a sea breeze moving through the shala, and end the day in a hammock over the shoreline as the sky turns. The whole property is locally run and cared for by a warm on-site team, so everything simply works while you unwind.
The cabañas and rooms
Guests stay in four thatched-roof cabañas set among the gardens, with eight rooms in total and space for up to 24.
Every room is en suite with a hot-water shower, and you will find hangers and three towels waiting (one for the pool, one for the shower, one for the beach).
You can see the rooms, cabañas, and rates on the Still Salty Escape property page.
Downstairs rooms
Downstairs rooms are cool and private with air conditioning, an indoor bathroom, and a second covered outdoor bathroom open to the breeze. Their beds flex to fit your group, four singles that combine into a king.
Upstairs rooms
Upstairs rooms catch the ocean breeze with ceiling fans, sleek ensuite bathrooms, and canopy beds draped in mosquito netting, some with ocean views. Whether you come solo, with a friend, or as a couple, there is a room that fits.
The yoga shala
Practice happens in the property's 1,800 square foot open-air yoga shala, which looks out over the gardens and the ocean, positioned so the sun sets right in front of you.
Mats, blocks, and meditation cushions are all provided, along with a full surround-sound system and handwoven bamboo lanterns that glow at night. An organic edible garden grows within arm's reach of the deck.
Organic farm-to-table meals
Food here is a highlight, not an afterthought. Three chef-prepared meals and a snack are included each day, served open-air and community-style beside the pool and gardens. Most of what you eat is grown just up the road on the property's own two-acre organic farm, then rounded out with fresh local ingredients.
Meals are organic, farm-fresh whole foods: healthy, hearty, and made from scratch. Everything is refined sugar-free, soy-free, seed oil-free, gluten-free, and free of processed foods, with homemade bread on offer as a side and a smoothie and sweet-treat bar for in between. Every diet, allergy, and preference is happily accommodated, so let us know what you need and it is handled.
Sunsets, surf, and the water
The best seat on the property is the giant net hammock strung in the trees over the shoreline, the spot everyone claims for sunset. There is also a two-story lookout deck when you want the wider view.
The surf is a few steps away and suits every level, and it is the heart of our surf and yoga retreats in Nicaragua. The gentlest beginner bay is a seven-minute walk from the property, and the team takes care of board rental and transport, so learning to surf here is as simple as showing up. Between sessions there is the pool, the gardens, the hammocks, and a whole lot of quiet.
What's included when you stay
Your stay at the property includes your ensuite room, three chef-prepared meals plus a snack each day, daily use of the yoga shala with all props provided, the pool and gardens, and the care of the on-site team.
Surf and excursions can be added on. It is close to all-inclusive by design, so once you arrive, there is very little left to think about.
Come stay with us
This is where our Nicaragua retreats happen, and it is open for your own group too. If you want to come as a guest, you can join one of our yoga and surf retreats in Nicaragua.
